Eric Weigel is the Chief Investment Officer of Insight Financial Strategists responsible for designing and managing investment portfolio strategies for the firm’s clients.

As Chief Investment Officer Eric seeks to customize each client’s portfolio to people’s unique circumstances, goals and risk appetite.  Each portfolio is managed in a consistent manner within the framework of our capital market views and robust research methodology.

As a Wealth Strategist Eric helps guide investors in making the best financial decisions given their goals, financial resources and risk attitude.

Eric enjoys working with individual clients and bringing best of class  institutional investment practices to clients’ portfolios.  He passionately believes that individual investors should have access to the best research practices and risk management approaches normally reserved for only the largest global investors.

It’s in a similar vein that Eric enjoys rolling up his sleeves and evaluating the latest academic and practitioner concepts and incorporating these new ideas where appropriate to the formulation of our research driven investment strategies.

Eric has over 25 years of investment management and capital market research experience having worked in senior leadership roles at some of the premier asset managers in the industry such as Russell, Invesco, Pioneer, MFS and Hermes, a pioneer in socially responsible investing.  He also spent time at the Federal Reserve as an Economic Analyst.

Eric received an M.B.A degree in Finance from the University of Chicago, where he was the recipient of the Dart & Kraft Fellowship Award for students of Hispanic origin. He also has a M.S. degree in Applied Economics & Statistics from the University of Minnesota and graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in agricultural business.

He has authored over ten journal articles in a variety of academic journals, including Journal of Portfolio ManagementThe Financial Analyst JournalThe Journal of Investing, and the Journal of Management Sciences. He has spoken at numerous investment conferences and has appeared on television business programs such as CNBC, Marketwatch and Bloomberg TV.

Eric was born in Washington, DC into a multi-cultural family and spent a significant amount of his early years living in Latin America and Europe.

His passions are his three children, sports, global economics, and interacting with people from all walks in life and backgrounds. He has lived in the Boston area since 1993, first in Acton and currently in Charlestown.
